Bohemian Baby Doll

I made the Bohemian Baby Doll dress by Elegance and Elephants over the weekend and at first, I thought my fabric choices were just way too busy looking but once I got the dress on my daughter and took a look a the photos I am sort of in love!  This dress pattern was such a breeze to sew and the finished look is just perfect.  Heidi from E&E really knows how to produce amazing patterns.  One of my favorite patterns of hers is the Ruffle Top.  I also just made a pair of Bubble Pocket Shorts over the weekend.  We love her Fedora pattern over here too.  Basically, we love all of her patterns and this latest pattern is no disappointment.

I did make a few tweaks since I can never sew up a pattern without adding my own tiny touch.  I sewed up the size 2 bodice and cut out the back bodice bottom edge to have a slight curve upwards just like the front bodice.

I then cut the skirt on an a-line instead of straight down the sides and also added about 3″ in length to the front and about 6″ of length to the back.  I wanted the dress to have a longer flowy high low hem.

The last modification I made was making the shoulder ruffles not as wide.  I wanted them to be really subtle since the black and white stripe fabric I used is pretty bold.

I also sewed up the bodice pieces differently than instructed just that is what I am used to.  I am so pleased with how this dress turned out.  After I was done with this one I immediately made a coordinating dress for my other daughter and they will be wearing them to a wedding on a lake in WA this weekend.

This pattern is such a beautiful and simple pattern and one that you can have lots of fun adding your own twist to.  You can have lots of fun with fabric choices as well.  There will definitely be more Bohemian Baby Doll dresses in the future over here.

If you haven’t picked up your copy of this pattern yet you can find it HERE.  Be sure to check out Heidi’s blog to see all of the Bohemian Baby Doll dresses being made by so many amazing bloggers for more inspiration.
