A couple of months ago I made myself a faux leather peplum jacket using the Penelope Peplum pattern by See Kate Sew. I wanted an almost cardigan style jacket that I could just slip over a tank top real quick. I really love the way it turned out. It’s simple and can be worn with so many things but because it is made in a copper color faux leather it feels more stylish than just a simple cardigan.
The only thing I did to modify the pattern to make this jacket is I cut the front bodice piece in half instead of on the fold. I also added a band around the waistline where the bodice and skirt part meet just to accentuate the peplum style a little more. I also lined the jacket and cut the skirt ruffle part so that it would fold in half sort of like a bubble skirt. The modifications worked out perfectly and I am so happy with the result.
I have really enjoyed sewing for myself lately. Mom’s on the go can be stylish too!! If you haven’t made anything for yourself this month you should start now! I promise you will be glad you did! 🙂
