April Showers

I posted these little rain jackets I made on my Instagram but now I am finally getting around to blogging them!  I love these little coats and so do my girls!  I originally planned on making two polka dot coats thinking I purchased enough fabric but I only had enough to make one coat!  Let’s just say it was a pretty miserable week while we waited for more fabric to come.  These girls would not stop fighting over who got to wear the raincoat.  It happened to rain like 3 times that week too so of course, they rushed to their closet to grab their raincoat to go outside which caused even more fighting.

I found the blue polka dot laminated cotton from Michael Levine and found the floral laminated cotton from a shop on Etsy.  I used a pattern I totally forgot I had called the Mackenzie Gathered Jacket by ithinksew.  I purchased the pattern when I first started learning to sew and never used it.  The sizing only went up to 24 months so I had to grade it to a size 3 for my girls but it is a very simple jacket so it was easy to make the adjustments.  I added the inside facings to make it look a little more professional but stuck to the pattern for everything else.  I really really love how these simple coats turned out and I am hoping the girls can still fit into the next year too because I love them that much!

Here are some photos of the girls in their new rain jackets.  It was supposed to rain the day we took photos but it ended up not raining   I wanted some real-life actions shots!  Oh well, my girls love these coats so much they don’t care if it is raining or not!
